The second edition of the textbook (first in 1994) consists of two parts. The general part outlines microbiology based on morphology and microorganism genetics. The biotechnology of medicines has been addressed. The basic provisions of the immunity exercise are presented. The special part contains information on major taxonomic groups of pathogens and laboratory diagnostic principles.
The growing role of microbiology and immunology in the study of ethics and pathogenes, improved diagnostics, treatment and prevention of infectious and non-communicable diseases requires an increase in the teaching of these subjects in all medical schools, including the Faculty of Medicine. The future work of doctors and provisors requires knowledge of general and sanitary microbiology, clinical and pharmaceutical microbiology with immunology and private microbiology. Future doctors and provisor should also be well focused on modern biotechnology, on the specificity of biotechnological medicines (especially immunositocines, regulatory peptides and other endogenous natural drugs).
The first edition of the textbook was intended for students of pharmaceutical institutions and medical faculties. The second edition of the textbook is supplemented and adjusted to the latest advances in microbiology and immunology and is a training manual for students from all medical faculties, as well as teachers from colleges and other health-care providers.
The training is written by the authors ' group Microbiology with virus and immunology I. M. Sechenova, Moscow Medical Academy, with experience in the teaching of microbiology and immunology in therapeutic, medical, prophylactic and pharmaceutical faculties, the Faculty of Scientific and Pedagogical Training, and the Faculty of Higher Sestry Education.
